It sounds as if your electricity has been switched to a lower setting. Mine sometimes does that too, hairdryer works but slow, tv sound works but no picture. Apparently the electricity companies do it the limit the power supply but not to cause a power cut altogether, mine usually only lasts for a few hours. The resson is usualy because the electricity supplier had some problem which they are fixing.

looks like your provider isn't adiquite, you may desire to be waiting to have a tech out of your electric powered business enterprise come over and evuluate your provider. in no way play which includes your provider in case you do not now what your doing. post notice to under posts, you have not any problem with you transformer, this is an indoors problem, the transformer on your street IF it became malfunctioning might a hundred% holiday the long pole breaker on the transformer, and likewise all your friends might have themes, this might nicely be a indoors problem, a undersized electric powered panel, or your place has aluminium wiring, (older residences has it, yet contractors did not understand had to bypass a million Ga. bigger with al. than copper), yet another words, if a cuicuit suggested as for a ten Ga copper, had to apply 8 Ga aluminum because of fact the equivilate, examine those all out, i'm specific this provide you your answer.

Hi
Its sounds to me that your electrical supply may have a loose connection some where, this would cause a volt drop across the loose connection which would cuase items of a resonable loading not to function correctly.
This will need looking at sooner rather than later as if this is the case it may cause a fire.
Do any light go dim also when using heaters or electric oven, or kettle?

Regards
John

Try plugging toaster (or any movable things) into different sockets around your house, if you get the same result, it's probably the toaster at fault. But if it works fine, get an electrician to test your kitchen circuit. Only a qualified person should do a job like this, electricity is to dangerous for yourself to tackle. Keep safe.

My first assumption from the description of your problem is that you have a loose or faulty connection on the Supply to your flat/house.
As you switch on any current using equipment you will get a big volt drop and things will not heat up as they should.
Get an electrician to check if the problem is on your side of the supply.
If this is not the case then you must get in contact with the electricity supplier ( EDF Energy ) in this country ( UK ).
This is a fire hazard and should be dealt with promptly.

It sounds like you are getting some power but not all.

We had a problem in our area a while back & it was with the transformer out side. Some thing when bad & we only had power to about 1/2 of our outlets & lights.

So you should just check with the power company.

This sounds very much as though you have reduced voltage.
Its hard to understand how this could have happened.
It could have happened if some serious mistakes have been made when your house was wired up.
Have you done some wiring yourself??

Are you in the UK?
First of all I'd check with nearest neighbours to see if they are suffering the same problem.

As some have said, it sounds like your house supply is low (<~190v). There is power there so its unlikely to be a problem with the house installation. You'll probably find it will come right during the day, if it doesn't contact your electrical supplier.

Sounds like low voltage. Are your lamps as bright as usual? To see whether it is just your house or is due to a mains defect ask one or two of your neighbours if they have any problems. If they have it is an Electricity company problem and you should contact them(their number will be on their last bill). If you feel that he problem is just in your house you will have to call in an electrician or contact your landlord or agents, whichever is appropriate.

Did you blow the fuse?? Thats the only thing that could have happened. Electric either works or it dont..theres nothing in between. You had to of blown a fuse. Check your circuit breaker.
Jane..your full of it..the eletric company does no such thing. Do you know what a brown out is?? This would happen if they did that and would ruin millions of electrical appliances. Thats all BS.
My dear..go check your fuse panel..You have over loaded circuits..I am 95% positive.
