Outlook IS email, and it comes with Microsoft Office. It can be used with dialup, cable, or dsl. I doubt if there are any free ISPs any longer with more than a few hours of net time.

any email program (paid or free) that gives you a pop access information, can be accessed via outlook....gmail would be one of those that is free and has pop access......but most free mails do not, this is because when accessing web-based email you are connecting to a general server and the emails are not really stored there, but accessed from there, when you have pop access you are connecting to a secured email server and downloading the actual email from the server....which means the service has to maintain a "email only" server and for free based email systems would be costly, thus making it so you are really paying for that service (along with a few extras) for getting the "plus" or "premium" services. As far as I know, free yahoo mail, and hot-mail, definitely do not allow pop access, but they do allow forwarding, so you could forward your free-mail to another account that does have pop access and then get all your messages from that one address.

I have my hotmail set up through my outlook express. It didn't cost anything to do it.

You need to pay to do that. Comcast works though.
