First the car is overheating. The fan is working, I just think it is antifreeze leaking out of a hoze and onto the engine.

My heater quit working approx. the same time it started overheating. What do you think could be the reason for the heater to quit working? It's still cold where I'm at and I need to get this fixed pronto!

You may check the water pump. Very simple test, have the car running grap the radiator hose while holding the hose rev the engine you should feel a pulse in the hose each time you rev it. Make sure your car is up to temp. first. If that is good. You may want to replace your thermostate, Very cheap to do. It may be stuck shut or open. Your heater may be caused by your thermostate to, if not the heater core may be pluged. A good system flush may be a good Idea to. Check the front of the radiator to for bent fins or trash. There can be many possibiltys here but always check the simple stuff first.

to envision a thermostat first take it out grab a cooking pan with warm water verify the temperature of the nice and snug water jointly as is warming up Take the thermostat verify for a quantity in one factor (87 case in point) this is ability the thermostat will open at 87 stages F. Submerge the area that has the quantity into the water, wait til you spot the temp of the water at 87 stages then the tstat could open, you will see the spring to settlement. Now for the heater no longer working it sounds like there is not any coolant flowing interior the heater center, so which you should verify the Heater administration valve or for the vent door on the heater for customary operation. The heater administration valve regulates how plenty coolant flows into the heater center, so it opens and closes. The vent door is the only that opens and close once you're calling for warm air or chilly air into the cabin.
