Men have nipples because way back in their development, all men used to be girls.
Genital development of an embryo begins at about week 5 but goes through a stage called the "Indifferent Stage" where the stuff that forms is the basis for both male or female genital tracts. Nipples begin to appear at about week 6 as the development of mammary ridges and then outgrowths from these ridges, formation of secondary buds below and the transformation of these into lactiferous ducts.
It is only from weeks 10-12 that differentiation of male and female occurs, based on the development of testes (caused by Y-chromosome) and the presence of male hormones.
In the absence of the male hormones, the foetus develops as a female - even if a Y chromosome is present!
(In the presence of these hormones, the foetus develops as a male - even if no Y chromosome is present - as is the case in females with adrenal hyperplasia, with the virilizing effect of these hormones)
The nipples form early in development and only develop into female breasts under the right hormonal stimulation. Otherwise they remain rudimentary male breasts. NB there is in fact a tiny amount of breast tissue beneath most male nipples and men can also get breast cancer - although their rates are 100X lower than that of women.

In a now-famous paper, Stephen Jay Gould and Richard C. Lewontin emphasize that we should not immediately assume that every trait has an adaptive explanation. Just as the spandrels of St. Mark's domed cathedral in Venice are simply an architectural consequence of the meeting of a vaulted ceiling with its supporting pillars, the presence of nipples in male mammals is a genetic architectural by-product of nipples in females. So, why do men have nipples? Because females do.
Why do men have nipples? To prove they're mammals, obviously. The distinguishing features of mammals, from whales to mice, are two: having hair and suckling their offspring. This gives us the notorious sentence that demonstrates why our pronouns need overhauling: "Man is an animal who suckles his young."
Clearly, if men didn't have nipples, to demonstrate their theoretical membership in the La Leche League, we could only identify them as mammals by their hairiness. And where would that leave bald guys? What are they, reptiles?
There are some male mammals without nipples, a fact I was alerted to by Aristotle, who wrote "Such, for instance, is the case with horses, some stallions being destitute of these parts."
Since Aristotle's medical facts were sometimes a bit wobbly -- he said cabbage cures hangovers -- I called an equine veterinarian. "I have never seen a stallion with nipples," she declared flatly. "And I have looked around down there." As far as I know, she's never seen a bald stallion, either, so that's how they avoid being called reptiles.

Not only do we have nipples, but we have breasts as well. A small number of men die of breast cancer each year.
All fetuses are female, but as they grow and if they have a Y Chromosome, then the male genitalia develops and the female genitalia dissolves. Sometimes there is a developmental failure and a child will be born with both genitalia. These people are called Hermaphrodites. This is very rare condition.
But the breast does not go away, we just don't get the female hormones to make them develop into functional ones.

Men have got nipples because God has created them to be so. The creation of God is perfect. Without nipples man's features will not be complete.

-Nipples are especially sensitive and are a source of sexual stimuli, even for many men.
-Nipples are the result of an efficient plan of embryonic development. Human embryos contain characteristics of both sexes at first, because they all have basically the same genetic information. It is design economy. For example, in all human embryos, at first both the mullerian duct system (female) and the wolffian duct system (male) develop, because both sexes have the genetic information for these structures. Incidentally, this refutes the urban myth that human embryos "start out female."

Men and women are mammals (from the Latin mamma breast) a species that have breasts and feeds its young with milk. The human embryo has tissue that will evolve into breasts. Both male and female babies are born with nipples and ducts intact. It is the presence of genes that direct hormones to differentiate the breast tissue. The Y chromosome stimulates hormones such as testosterone to form male features.
Look damn funny without them. Anyways what else can you give a good tweak to!!

Janbull is quite correct: all zygotes are female and some only later become male. The nipples and all the same breast tissue are in place for male and female. The clt.rs becomes the penis, the ovaries become the testes etc. Isn't nature wonderful?

because you were developing inside as a fetus before that magic date when your body decides whether you are either going to be a boy or a girl...until that time, some things are ambigious. (nipples are one of these things). When your body does decide your gender...gonads will either descend and become testicles or stay inside and become ovaries, the clitoris with stay or become a penis, labias will either stay or become the fused scrotum and surround the testicles... AND nipples will either be there for show or develop into breasts for milk production....hope that answers your ?
also, nipples in men are also sensual areas and note that 1% of all breast cnacers are in men..

When the embryo forms in the uterus, it starts out as neither male nor female, and gradually forms into one or the other based on whether they have two XX chromosomes or an X and a Y chromosome. All male mammals have nipples, male dogs, male pigs, male monkeys, etc.
