I think that is is stupid, illogical, and unfair for the Congress Party to continually grant special rights and privileges to India's non hindu minorities. Why is it that some groups have special rights (so called reservation) and others do not.

At the end of the day the only people that truly love and care about India and are working day and night, mixing blood and sweat so that India can become glorious are HINDUS (as well as sikhs and jains and buddhists). The Hindu majority are the only group that have a vested interest in India, and wish for it to succeed. Most of the other groups simply don't even regard themselves as Indian but as being part of the Muslim world or part of the Christian world etc.

Hindus are ultimately responsible for India's successful performance.

Do you agree with me that HINDUS IN INDIA SHOULD BE GIVEN SPECIAL RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES BECAUSE WE ARE THE ONES WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ECONOMIC BOOM AS WELL AS INDIA'S RISING SUPERPOWER STATUS???

If you people say that I am wrong and that everyone should be treated equally, please explain to me why/how it is fair that ALL non-Hindus are accorded special treatment. Is THAT what your equality and democracy teaches?

The purpose of Democracy is so that there can be one law for everyone. Nevertheless, Hindus (despite being the ones who are doing most of the work for the Indian state) are treated THE WORST in their own country.

No. For a multicultural society to be able to function, the people - ALL the people - should be treated equally by the law.

The granting of special privileges to one group or another only serves to create bitter divisions amongst the people, or worse.

It ill serves any country, especially a country like India that is emerging as an economic, military and cultural force, to create such divides within its society. Do so, and you will recreate in India the sectarian violence currently going on in Iraq. Do you really believe that the Muslims will idly sit while you make them into second class citizens?

I'm not claiming to be an expert on India, but I do understand human nature quite well.

It is really sad that at least some people who think, only Hindus are proud Indians and others are not. Its absolutely not true. There are a lot of non Hindus who are proud to be a part of India and do not enjoy any special rights or privileges. Therefore I do not find any need for Hindus , Muslims or Christians or any other religion to be granted any special rights and privileges. Need of the hour is a caste less nation and a religion free world. I don't think its right to claim that Hindus alone are responsible for the economic boom and India's rising super power status. All True Indians are, no matter what religion they belong to..I am a non Hindu who opposes reservations of any kind, and a very proud Indian. All true Indians should work together for a caste less, religion free India no matter whether they live in the north or the south. Be a good human being and then a good Indian. Any thought more than that would not help INDIA!!!

No, I do not agree with you simply because India's constitution states that India is a secular country. I also disagree with you that only Hindu Indians are patriotic. Perhaps in the past (at the time of partition) some muslims may have felt some closeness to Pakistan, but it is not the case today.

Most Muslims that I know today do not like Pakistan or what it represents. They are proud to be Indians and to be part of India. Having said that yes some of them also feel compasionate towards other muslims who are suffering in the world, like for example in Palestine and Iraq, but that does not mean they will compromise their love for India.

I am sure most Indian Christians are similar to the Muslims. A lot of Christians are well educated, but have been marginalised because they are Christians hence they tend to look abroad for jobs etc, but essentially they too contribute to the rise of India.

As for your question regarding minorities - let me tell you one of the beauty about the European constitution is that although a government is picked by the majority (democracy), the needs and requirements of the minority are safeguarded by the constitition. A democracy does not mean the majority can do what ever they want it also means looking after and respecting the needs of the minority. Don't forget that although you may be a majority in one thing, perhaps in another area you will become a minority, hence if you play this 'majority" card then you are digging a hole for yourself. Any true democracy will address the need of the minority. Majority rule does not mean abusing the minority.

There are loads of Indians in the UK, and let us not forget that they are in the minority, but their freedom to worship, their freedom to practice their faith etc is respected and protected.

One can go back to the times of Hitler and play the NATIONALISTIC card to win some votes, but history teaches us that this is not the right path and it will only lead to the destruction of India!

Open up your mind and open your heart to other people and I am sure your world will look a lot rosier.

Good Luck.

India has adopted a democratic system where all citizens are equal before law. There are economic disparity among some communities. For all round development some communities need special attention and there is nothing wrong about it. Hindus are divided into Sc/STs etc. and they are also given special privileges for over all development so as to be competitive. Work for own upliftment and do not depend on special rights and privileges. That would elicit respect.

This planet will never ever end wars until we agree all people have the right to equally, equal and treated with the same rights and freedoms they inherited from God the father. Exactly when you say "we" what is your contribution? Or are you taking credit for some hard working people that happened to have been born in your country. Have you ever tried to read or get to know other cultures to see if they may since being around so much longer might impart a nugget of wisdom or two that could be Incorporated into your culture enhancing it. At the same time you could offer some of the finer points of your culture they might find worthy of incorporating into their culture...Mary

Hindus are discriminated by the Government of India, as said by some people that only Hindus are offered jobs, thats bull **** the Hindus ear their job, and who would give the illiterate Muslims jobs, who are know for exploitation of their position and system for the beneit of their UMMAH.
My friend faced the discrimination, by the SBI loan manager who happened to a Muslim, and I am a witness to it.
Muslims wherever they are exploit the countrie...
Hindus are not the reason for their backwardness, when you follow a crap you are bound to lag behind, that is what keeping the muslims backward.
And why should we grant them special rights when they are earning their backwardness with great zeal by producing more and more children, disturbing the demographic balance with a view to take over India and convert into Islamic republic by increasing their numbers.....

According some groups special rights means discrimination against the other. And here the GOVT of India clearly discriminating against the natives of India who are the sole keepers of the heritage of India

How can you have equal rights when India has what is called a caste system?

For example: People are based on their color of skin. Sound familiar US residents?

Quick breakdown from top of the heap down:
White skins. Twice born, teachers and priests
Red Skin: Warriors and Rulers
Brown Skin: Farmers, merchants, artisans etc.
Outside twice born:
Black Skin: Laborers

The untouchables are polluted laborers.

So I ask the question again: Where were the equal rights for all involved when in fact this system is still in use in many parts? Turf this system first before talking about equal rights for everyone.

Bein Hindu in Bharat as major community need not ask for special rights and privileges. It is only minor community who ask for because they feel insecure eventhough our country give full security. From time immemorial, we have accommodated everyone from all places. That is the reason, British ruled, there were muslim invasions. However, Hindu Dharma is strong and very much Dharma in concept and follow Rishi culture and showing the path of Dharma to whole world.

There is no point in being Secular, Democratic state if such decisions are taken. Just to satisfy your personnel needs we can not change the constitution. If you do not like a party do not elect it. What the other parties, did when they were in power? You be in minority community's shoe for a day and experience their plight. You are so biased, you think, only you are toiling. Others are simply whiling away there time. That is why President Abdul Kalam is Missile man and most of our former Generals Of Armed forces are Christians and Sikhs.
First try to cleanse your mind.
