I read the books, listed to ther original Radio broadcasts at the time of airing on BBC Radio 2 in the 70's, and watched the BBC TV Series and read the books again, as they were added.
Then saw the movie...
I liked the bit with Slartybartfarst and the lift, and that was it. It was a dull film and could have been done better, but it takes a lot to beat my imagination so its unfair to judge.
So that's your answer: The Audience have a better imagination than the maker of the movie could project on the screen.
They did the best they could and I'm glad they made the effort, but I am pretty sure it will be made again 20 years down the road and I'm looking forward to it. Unless they don't, then I will have waited in vain.Or not, maybe.

hmm.. nicely, if it have been me, i might attempt to talk approximately how even although they're "technically" the final surviving earth born people does not deliver Arthur and Trillion jointly.. (even although the movie says in any different case.. that's extremely needless to say shown interior the e book that she makes the determination to be a mom with him in basic terms because of fact she knew him, and he became human.. he wasn't even there). Or, bypass the choice, and teach how the various "species" work together with one yet another.. and communicate approximately how that's comparable or distinctive from how issues are interior the real worldwide .. there are a number of stuff which you will take out of the e book, .. those are various the flaws that caught out in my strategies after having examine it like 6 cases.. if something else stands out to you.. bypass which includes your intestine.. in case you teach an interest, and which you relatively comprehend some element of it (or that's clever to you even besides the fact that if that's a distinctive interpretation than the author might have made).. it will teach..

I love the book and loved the original BBC release
but the new movie just plain stunk on toast
I think the 70's version had a campy futuristic presence
the 2000,s version had forgot about.
also it seemed like the 70's one was set in the distant future and the new one was set right now in present times.
The old one was a little funny and the new one,I only laughed when someone asked me if I liked it as much as the original.
I wanted to like this movie but they didn't do it justice

I hated the movie because I absolutely loved the books. Douglas Adams' very wry sense of humor did not translate well to the screen. The comedy in the movie seemed more over-the-top and not as carefully controlled as the comedy in the book.

Don't know, really. I enjoyed it myself. I especially liked the casting. All the actors were brilliantly chosen :)
