Attorney General Gonzales made a classic mistake; he confused his loyalty to the president in his previous job as his counselor with his duty to the nation and his office at the Attorney General. He was acting as the political and partisan ad visor to a president when he should have been impartially following the law.

Despite what a lot of these geniuses are spouting, Gonzales did nothing illegal or improper. The US Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President and he can fire them any time he desires, and replace them without advice or consent of Congress. That's what has the Democrats' panties in a wad. They don't get to consult. The people who were fired were philosophically different from the Administration and had to go.

He fired 8 US Attorneys. It was totally within his right to do that, but because Dems can't get at the President, they try to make a scandal out of anything to make the administration look bad. It's disgusting!

Instead of being honest and saying words to the effect of, "We fired those 8 US Federal DAs because they're not friendly to the Bush administration's brand of law and order" they lied and stated that the 8 DAs were fired due to poor performance issues.

Once again the Bush Administration can't shake the old habit of putting out the lie, and then smear and squash those who have the nerve to point out the lie.

He fired 6 Federal District Attorneys probably for political purposes. Either they were clogging up the system to make the president look bad or they were simply enemies of those in power.

Funny ....Clinton did this to dozens of prosecutors upon taking office when he was elected. Typical double standard the left gets away with what the right is castrated for.

he is actually the scapegoat for the Bush administration. Another pawn who spoke out against the corruption and must pay. It's sad though. The real crook.. Dick Cheney will fall on his own sword one day.

He is involved with obstruction of justice just like Scooter Libby was recently convicted of.

Nothing illegal about it, just bad political impression and decision. Sort of putting a cigar where it shouldn't go. Nothing illegal but not good in the political arena.

He fired US District Attorneys for political reason which is illegal. The real question is: why does he still have a job?

Pretty simple, he belongs to the most corrupt administration this country has ever encountered. He is just the next in line to get caught breaking the law.......AGAIN!
