It depends on your current living arrangements, actually. You should think about how much you have to pay out for bills and other expenses, and see how much you have left over. If you desire more material things in life, but don't have enough after the bills are paid, then you should ask your employer for more hours, a higher salary, or search for another position elsewhere that better suits your needs. Always a grander approach is to attend college, and work towards a matriculated degree to better your chances of landing that high paying job. Good luck.

A lot of people in the USA get by with 400-500 dollars per month. I wish I made 400-500 dollars per month when I was 20 five years ago. I used to get by with 200 dollars per month back then. I had many rommates to share the rent, paid 100 dollars per month in rent, and had to strech the rest to eat. I ate nothing but ramen noddles and tuna, and barely could afford deodorant. I really wish I had that much money 5 years ago.

It's not sad because you are WORKING! Save what you can, ask your boss for more hours, if they are available and if if/when the times comes, don't be afraid to ask for a "review". When you get out on your own you will need more substancial income. Some things you could do would be to get a roommate to share the living expenses with, get a place that is "utilities included", do laundry at Mom and/or Dad's.Consider Ebay or Amazon to supplement your income by selling things you have "grown out of".Keep at it, a good work ethic will get you places. Maybe someday it'll be 450,000-500,000 and you will better appreciate it.

Making $450-500 a month is better than not having a job. Have you considered upgrading your skills so that you can qualify for better paid jobs?

You should pat yourself on the back for having a job and actually earning a paycheck. I know lots of 20 yr olds that don't do squat and live off their parents.

It depends on where you live. Some places near Mexico have lower cost of living.
