Many people are able to start up a home/office cleaning service for little money. You could work the business yourself, and then hire others as you start to grow. Supplies would cost little-you should also spend some of the start-up money on advertising and marketing your business.

For 4K you can have a well established home based business, and be able to earn a nice income, along with 50% profit on all items sold!
The only legit work from home business I have found is the one my wife and I do. It's well established and, you can make a nice income (even 6 FIGURES a year)!
My wife and I both have a home based business, that we do part time and make any where from $800 to $1500 a month just working part time from home. In today's economy, there is NOTHING I know of that you can start and sustain with only $5000 capital. Better not even waste your time and what little money you have, if that is your net worth. Medium grade gas is now over $ 2.50/gal. Need I say more.
