The US Postal Service is about to raise 1st Class postage to .41 cents. As less people use traditional mail the cost will keep getting higher and higher. When will you quit? if ever.

I won't for quite some time if ever.
I still prefer receiving and sending paper birthday and other cards. Wedding invitations by email seem really tacky to me. Not everyone has computers to pay their bills, and there are plenty of folks who love to write a long letter to a friend. There is something more tangible about folding a letter from home and putting it in a pocket to reread when you feel blue. Electronic mail is just so cold. Think about .41 to mail a letter. They pick it up, sort it, get it to the right town, sort it again, it gets put on a truck where the mail carrier puts it right in the person's mailbox. Seems like a deal to me.

i have to tell you, 39 cents or 41 cents; i think it is a deal. if someone is willing to take a letter from Vermont to California for me for 41 cents, what is there to complain about?

(I am not now, nor I have I ever been a postal worker) :)

I'm quite *issed with Canada Post! They lost an important envelope (identity documents) that were being sent to me by registered mail. It's been 3 weeks and they say the matter is being investigated! Humph!

Let's see...

The USPS sends someone to my house, picks up my letter and delivers it to anyone, anywhere in the country...for 41 cents!

Sounds like a bargain to me.

When I can receive a personally addressed email without knowing who sent it, and be happy -even excited- to open it... I will give up snail mail.

I just sent a package to Hawaii -- that couldn't go through email. Sorry, I'll stop.
