It seems that some food brands are only sold East of the Mississippi. This includes Wise potato chips, which are not available in California, but I can get in Florida. Why is that? Huh? Huh? Tell me! Why? Why? Huh?

Wise is a regional brand, headquartered in Georgia. They've had a lot of financial trouble in recent years and keeping to the east coast keeps costs down. The bast majority of Wise sales are concentrated in the NYC region, so that's where they put most of their effort these days. Wise currently has 3% of the national potato chip market.

This is like the case of the Hellmann's mayonaise and the Best Foods' Mayonaisse. Hellmann's is sold on the east coast because it is created there, and it doesn't want to get broken from going a long distance to the west coast on bumpy roads. Best Foods' does that in reverse. In this case, Wise potato chips have a higher chance of becoming broken if they are sent long distance from the east coast to the west. Everybody wants whole potato chips, not crushed ones. So they decide to not waste money creating the product just so no one will buy it. They will earn more profit by keeping to the east coast. If it was sold on the west they would lose a lot of money.

it is an east coast company that does not want to ship out that far thinks it will deminish the chip and not be as fresh,,,, also no UTZ another east coast chip

the same resun you cant get golden flake outside of the south. some compunies dont want to sell nashunwide.
