Put out a dish with some vinegar in it and leave it sitting on the counter. Put some spices in a small pan of water and let them simmer on the burner for a little while.

I agree with the lemon idea i do it at home and you get a nice lemony smell and everything else goes away. Apparently the lemon soaks up the smells or something like that. It also works if you microwave half a lemon in a bowl to get rid of any narsty smells in there and you can do the same with your fridge. If your oven smaells too and is all greasy put 2 half lemons on a roasting tim with water and have the oven on high for 30-45 mins you'll get rid of smells and all the grease will come off easily too! Lemons are a wonderful thing!!!

This should do it for you, it is non allergen and eco wise, Try adding half cup of White Vinegar to a spray bottle that has been washed out that has a fine mist to it, then add warm water about 3/4 full or to the neck of the bottle and one tablespoon of Baking soda, then just spray in the areas where you smell the cooking odors, it will clean and freshen the air. Good Luck !

A homemade potpourri should do the trick. Put a pan of water on your stove over a low flame. Add a few cloves, a slice or two of lemon and a bay leaf. Let it simmer, very low flame, until the smell goes away.

If it's warm enough, open the windows and put on your overhead fan. That will also help move the smell out of the house.

How about boiling a pan of water with a lemon in it and then leaving it on the side to cool down... If possible open windows and doors (if it's not too cold!!)... You could bake some bread for the smell or the old favourite of making 'proper' coffee.

Open all the doors and windows in your house for at least half an hour. It is amazing how many people do not ventilate their house properly. This will alos help your asthma by having fresh air in the house.

Make sure you empty your bins that may contain any leftovers.

Buy a nice scented candle and let it burn in the kitchen. alternatively buy a different sort of air freshner, like the glass ones with the gel on them if you're able to use them. if it wasn't so cold i'd suggest leaving the window open for an hour too!
