we cry when we're sad, angry, hurt, even happy. what is the connection between crying and the way we feel?

i'll tell you what my sixth grade teacher told me about that way back -

humans are really the only creatures that cry it is believed. (wasn't it Mark Twain that said humans are the only creatures that blush...or need to, same principle). when we cry, we are releasing chemicals in our body called endorphines, which are released in times of stress or exhilaration (see link below).

all the different ways we express emotion or feeling - nothing makes you feel better than crying. it feels great to laugh, scream and etc...but you feel so much better after crying. It's one of those God-given things that we really can't explain. Think about it - when you're angry and scream, what do you want to do? scream more. you get angrier. it all builds up, negatively.
when you cry, you sometimes just want to cry and cry and cry, because it feels so good. its a positive, soul-cleansing thing. cry all you want.
