Your friend probably burned the DVD to fast....If I try to burn faster than 4X, sometimes the DVD wont play at all, or it skips constantly...
A good rule of thumb, the slower you burn, the better the quality....

To play a DVD you must obviously have the DVD hardware but you must also have software to allow you to play a DVD. PowerDVD or something like that is needed. You should have got something free with the DVD hardware when you bought it. Otherwise you can download a free DVD player from the net - there are lots out there. Hope this helps, good luck.

sometimes people burn things like that not checking the type, cdrs-cdrw will only work on computers, dvd rs- + &- will work on the computer, and the dvd player, given you have a dvd rom on your computer. I also suggest the + version of the dvd rs. or rw. ;)

On my dvd recorder,the dvd has to be finalized in order to play on other dvd players.It should be in the menu or on mine it is called guider.
