Of the over 35 million Hispanics counted in the Federal 2000 Census, 47.9% identified as white (termed "white Hispanic" by the Census Bureau); 42.2% "Some other race"; 6.3% Two or more races(from Wikipedia)

There are only 5 races: white, African-American/black, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander

Note that Hispanic is not a race in and of itself but is an ethnicity. This is a critical distinction. You can be a white Latino/Hispanic or a black Latino/Hispanic depending on the actual race of your ancestors...did they come from Africa (as many Haitians do) or did they come from Europe (as many Puerto Ricans do).

And Croa - while it is a dream of all sociologists to one day not have to make race distinctions unfortunately it is imperative that we continue to study it since the greater society continues to prejudice against people of different races. It is not just "social engineers" hoping to make statistical points...learn what sociology is before you make judgements on the discipline.

WHITE HISPANIC -- This group can be thought of as the Hispanic portion of the White population, or as the White portion of the Hispanic population. Subtracting this group from TOTAL HISPANIC gives the total number of Hispanics who are either Black, American Indian or Alaska Native, or Asian or Pacific Islander.

WHITE NON-HISPANIC -- Whites who are not of Hispanic origin. Subtracting this group from TOTAL gives the total of all individuals who are Hispanic and/or a member of a race group other than White.

No, it's not true.
While it makes no sense to me to categorize human beings by something as meaningless as Race, I do understand why this sort of drivel is perpetuated.
It is a social construct designed to make it easier for Social Engineers to statistically 'prove' the points they wish to prove.
Good luck
