The Depp family is mostly of Irish and German descent, although the Depp name is French in origin. Depp's maternal great-grandmother, Minnie, was a full-blooded Cherokee, and his father is also of partial Cherokee heritage, making Depp one-quarter Native American.

It is well known that Depp is 1/4 Native American. That his tribal heritage is mostly Cherokee.
His wife and mother of his two children is French.
This would make his children 1/8 Native American.

News flash...
If both parents are half, a child gets one quarter from each. Thus preserving the half amount.
So a parent being full is not the only way...and he sure looks like he's got some kind of white in him of you ask me.
Not only that...if you look at this site even, many people are confused by how to count their factions of all their heritage, and most celebrities are not geniuses either.

On Johnny Depp's myspace page he does not say he is full blooded indian.It does state that his grandmother was Cherokee.
