May I call you cynical? Just because aircraft crash and people get killed, should we stop flying? Social marriages do last even today. The problem is that more men and women are breaking out of the shackles of an unsuccessful marriage.
So, there is no problem, as such. When societal norms change, so do marital bonding. A bad marriage breaks up, but for that one bad marriage, there are many great marriages.
