Corporate event ideas?

I am looking for some ideas for a corporate event to entertain anywhere between 30 and 80 people with a budget of approximately £1,000 in November later this year.

Any (sensible or silly) ideas?

Few more details:
Firm of accountants and bank getting together to organise function for financial companies in local area (south of London in UK) for 20 to 40 year olds.

is it team building or a wizard wheeze?

go karting. paintball. rafting. indoor wall climbing,

raise money for charity... runaway bride... escaping convict... (get as far as you can in 24hrs with no money...and just the clothes youre in... brides in full white dress! convicts in jeans Tshirts and slippers!)

sponsored event, run a marathon on treadmills, push a car...ride a bike...

however... for sheer fun, goto a lazer quest arena... its indoors, dark, and the best fun youll have with your clothes not getting wet.

i fancy linking a load of playstations (or whatever) and doing the Formula One at say silverstone, or even the LeMans 24hr race, in real time...starts at 4pm saturday, finishes 4pm sunday... do it in teams... great event, and its good team building, and of course you have a clear winning team

A group in my office went to a store that provided blank tiles, paints, and fired the painted products, and those tiles are now on display on a wall in the office. You should have room in your budget for pizza or ice cream, too. You didn't say if you're in town or in the country, but a hay ride would be memorable. I saw a hay ride in urban Hoboken New Jersey US last fall, and, out in the country, some places that have apple picking or pumpkin picking in the fall may also be able to arrange harvesting and a hay ride.
