Water has maximum density at 4C.

At 0C its density is 999.82 kg m-3.

It drops below this again somewhere between 9 and 10C.

So water above 10C is less dense than ice at 0C.

well if we look at your question critically, we would have to calculate just how much the water expanded when we heated it. remember that density is inversely proportional to volume so heres your assignment. find the coeffecient of expansivity for water and find out by how much it expands. from this calculate its new density and compare it with that of ice.
