Garuda Purana is one of the puranas which are part of the Hindu body of texts known as the smriti. This scripture contains details of what happens after the person dies. This scripture contains details of the various punishments given to a person after death for the sins committed in life. These include Khumbipakam (burned in oil) and Kirimibhojanam (given as prey to leeches). The scripture describes about 24 types of death. Some western scholars see this script as analogous to the judgement day of Christianity.
Further Details
Garuda Purana is in the form of instructions by Lord Maha Vishnu to Sri Garuda (The King of Birds - a vahana of Lord Vishnu). This Purana deals with astronomy, medicine, grammar, and gemstone structure and qualities. In addition, the Garuda Purana is considered the authoritative Vedic reference volume describing the Nine Pearls, which includes not only the well known Oyster Pearl, but also the Conch Pearl, Cobra Pearl, Boar Pearl, Elephant Pearl, Bamboo Pearl, Whale Pearl, Fish Pearl, and Cloud Pearl.
The latter half of this Purana deals with life after death. The Hindus of north-India generally read this Purana while cremating the bodies of the dead. This has given great importance to the origin of Garuda. There are nineteen thousand verses describing the ways to the Lord.

I think your question has originated from soem kriya you have attended.
This purana is recited in all the days during the kriya period and not like delhi culture where some thing some thing useless is said on kriya.
This purana delas with the journey of atma through one janam to othet . How body forms and how again it is converted to panch tatwas and what happens after that.

Garud Puran tells you in detail the punishments for your crimes as you move from one soul to another. Where as Geeta tells us that we reap what we sow, and that all off us have always been here and will always be here, but as a man changes cloths, so do our souls change bodies. Everything that dies is born, and everything that is born eventully dies to begin aknew. What we should do in order to live a rightous life, what not to do, how to behave etc. I perfer Geeta as it is somthing that you can see in front of your eyes. People suffereing for wrong doings. Those who have been good souls always helping humanity, have always suffered in ther life, yet they will be rewarded by staying in the memories of people, for their good deeds, forever.

"What is lotted cannot be blotted. A frightened mouse runs to its hole; a terrified elephant to its stake; a scared serpent to a well; but where can a man run from his Karma?"
Right from his early days, he took fancy to things Divine because they fascinated him and fired his imagery. He got his inspiration from his uncle Balwant Singh who in his own right was a very imminent astrologer of his area. Having thus been initiated, Acharya Avinash Singh adopted very inorthodox subjects to become his way of life. These include Homeopathy, Fine Arts, Astrology, Vastu. He has to his credit various decorations and citations as a befitting tribute to his genius.
Another remarable feather in his cap is his vast knowledge of the principles of Yoga and Natural healing techniques. He has been outstandingly successfil in providing relief to modern medicine and treatments leave avoidable scars on the patient. One ailment treated leads to treating another caused by the first. This is not so in Yoga-based clinicality. Acharya Avinash Singh is a cool-minded healer. Not at all ostensible, he believes in administering his doses of naturopathy with telling results.
