Why'd MOST ppl come up with a "Red Hammer" when asked to do so?

I think it's because as a kid, for the most part, when we learn tools a red hammer is what we're first shown. We're more familiar with a red hammer than say a blue screwdriver. For the most part a red hammer is what everyone first becomes familiar with as kids and it sticks with us subconciously

Well I don't believe that most people say a red hammer as my family did this when I got it in an email and we all said something other than a red hammer. I thought of a blue saw. I am yet to speak to anyone who has said red hammer.

Don't ask why, but as soon a I read,"Quickly think about a color and a tool," I thought of a blue bat. LOL. I'm tellin ya, don't ask why. Are there even such thing as a blue bat? And a bat isn't a tool, I know. LOL. I would of never thought of a "red hammer". I've never even heard the question before. Off the wall, but a good one.

LOL i had that as a email i actually said yellow spanner! it was something about 98% will say red hammer while the other 2% who are more intelligent will say something different, i dont class myself as intelligent i think its just a case of red is the most common colour and hammer is the most popular tool!

Because you're psychic? I don't know... that's scary... I thought of "red hammer" before I opened the link. Freakkkky. But really, I think it's because red is a very popular color and it's vibrant...while a hammer is one of the most popular and useful tools. =)
