Also will it hurt the birds. The weed and feed says if you get it on your skin or clothing to remove clothing or wash skin immediatly, yet it has no mention of use on pet areas and I know this is a product that people use on thier entire yards. But I am a little unsure of using it where my dogs go out.

There is an all natural weed and feed out there, you just have to ask around at different garden centers. It's called "corn gluten meal". It is a natural pre-emergent, and has an NPK of 9-0-0, so it has a lot of nitrogen and will make your yard nice and green. It will not harm pets or children, in fact, there are no warnings on the bag. Depending on where you live, it may be too late for a pre-emergent, as most weeds have already germinated. You may just get a regular lawn fertilizer (preferably organic, as synthetic fertilizers rob the soil of nutrients, and organic fertilizers add nutrients). Good luck!

Best not to take the chance. You could end up with a very expensive vet bill ($2500.00 plus), or worse, a dead pet.

Call your vet or the National Animal Poison Control Center for more info and give them the name and details of the product you're inquiring about. Save yourself worry and money.
