That is a very old saying. Back when bachelors didn't cook. Now with fast food being so popular & microwave meals a man is not going to starve without a woman.
The way to a man's heart now days is through, well, his pants.

because every man has a deep sated need to be taken care of. A woman who cooks for him has proven her role as caretaker.
Most men want to marry a girl like their mother for a reason.

Any guy wants a woman to be able to cook this is the reason why if you can cook and their gut can take it then you will be winner in their book.
