Just do what you've been doing and yes it is possible to be friends with his ex as long as your both mature and everybody has moved on.It sounds like you really have no choice in the matter.Everybody in the family accepts her so I guess you might as well be the bigger person and accept her too.I just got to say that I commend you on this situation.If only the rest of the world could get a long like this.People make unnecessary stress in their lives for no reason.Good luck to you!

Oh my gosh, my fiance still talks to his ex 3 or 4 times a week on the phone ! She is mentally ill and I know their relationship was a dysfunctional but sexually charged one. I don't worry about him going back to her because he won't because she is to old to have children plus in her past she has dated 700 men ! I am very nice to her and call her my friend because I feel sorry for her because my fiance broke her heart. Your situation may be different though.
