how many people know what the individuals get per day from shaking a tin under your nose collecting for Air ambulance, oxfam, save the children, and many more, did you know these collectors get from fifty pounds per day to ninety pounds then the area rep takes his cut out of each tin, how much golden handshake was paid to the chairman of oxfam when he left about four years ago, I give every week to a cause where not one penny is taken by the collectors that is the Sally/Ann and they are the first on the scene in any disaster, and have been before oxfam was invented

Yup, thats why I don't give to charity. Sorry but until it goes to the needy I will only buy the big isue and fair trade products.

We get collectors knocking on the door everyweek wanting you to set up direct debits and then donation bags to give your unwanted stuff (actually though I do fill these If I've got anything).

As for income-you can sign a form to waive the tax paid on any donation you make over a certain amount. Oh and if you do sign up for a direct debit they ring you every few months to get you to give more money.

90% of them are poorly organised businesses that have no market competition to streamline their running costs.

They take your money, pay bills and wages, then give the remainder of what ever value to the cause.

It is a great business angle, because the consumer expects so little back and some charity staff are on very uncharitable wages.
