Help, I was thinking about adding some blown insulation to existing loose insulation (6yr old home) and noticed there was a significant area about 4x4 which was open from the attic of the attached garage (no insulation there) and the attic where I was going to add some more insulation. Both sections have there own venting, before I cover this up is it required to be open? Thanks so much for your info. and sorry if the question is confusing.

The area I thought about installing more insulation is the attic of the house (higher than the garage attic) The garage has no insulation in the attic (I plan to leave it that way). Just an opening which is somewhat large where the two connect (both have soffit vents) I just didn't know if the heat from the garage would somehow interfere with the efficiency of the home? Thanks
