US is a friend of any country that can do them well, and if that is India, with all the cheap computer know how there then they are friend. As long as India does what they have been doing they are friend but start going for nuclear this or harbouring terrorists there and things can change pretty quickly. The US business world recognizes the advancements that India has been making in the world of finance, computer programming and other things like servicing a large population internet capability. Even Crammer likes India's redf or rediff dot com so when there is money to be made look out the USA is always close by, like a crow they are ready to pounce on any road kill and make it theirs. Being a friend of India also allows them to keep close tabs on Pakistan which could easily become the foe.
