Sorry to those of you east of the Atlantic in case this hasn't reached you yet. I am so glad to know that transsexual concern can be digested as part of main-stream culture more easily these days. I think this is a wonderfully sympathetic and subtly played character, every credit to Rebecca Romijn and the writers at Ugly Betty.

I hope the show develops her character as well as they have done so far and don;t just leave her by the wayside. I am addicted and want to know what will happen next, but more personally I am just pleased to see someone experiencing transsexualism played as an ordinary person with feelings and thoughts like any other person.

Credit to the producers. What does anyone else think?

Boy Dude, you really haven't paid attention have you? Alexis Meade is a POST-OPERATIVE transsexual, she doesn't have the afformentioned apparatus.

I guess that suggests the answer to my question is no then. :(

Oh dear, well it would seem no one feels strongly enough to add answers or disagree with the one bigot who has bothered to answer so far. :(

I was also pleased to learn of this character and while I admit I haven't watched that show much I've tried to catch up and watch mainly to see Alexis. So far I've liked what I've seen and the development of the character as fairly normal by TV standards is good. I think its good to bring this issue into the mainstream as it may be the first exposure many have to it, but in doing so it will hopefully become more mainstream and acceptable. Kudos to the show's producers.

I'm interested in this topic because my b/f is considering this and even if he proceeds we plan on staying together so we've got a world of decisions to make, expenses to account for, and a long road of HRT, RLT, and SRS ahead of us. Seeing it presented positively will only benefit us I would think.

Helpful what ever do you mean. A dude wanting to be chick. But still has a penis and balls. It's very disturbing.
