Don't bother to work it out. Get a proper tape measure that is not cluttered with imperialist units, and measure yourself in US meters*. There is one on eBay in Massachusetts, currently at $5 (Item # 130092739535).

Have you got a tape measure? Most are Imperial and Metric (in U.K.). Look where 5' 3'' is, look at other edge of tape, and there you have it in Metric 1600mm or 160cm. or 1m.60cm.

1inch =2.54 10^-2m and 1 foot = 0.3048m

so 5 feet 3 inches are = 5*0.3048+3*0.0254 =1.524+0.0762=1.6002m

I calculate 5'3 to be 160 cm. or 1 metre 60cm. Is this your height that you need to convert? You probably are calculating your BMI.
