I think photography might be something I can stick with until the last sequence, but C++ would only be for 1 or 2 semesters. If I plan on majoring in biology, which course I choose to take during my sophomore year?

808, I have tons of options, but have narrowed it down to the fun and the practical.

I don't know that I'd enjoy photography, and I don't know how our work is graded, but C++ sounds rather boring. Has anyone taken either or both these classes?

soph year of college? you could put that on your resume... c++ experience, probably wouldnt matter much if you went into biology but it would make you look well rounded in a practical way. but if you enjoy photography i say do that instead. dont you have any other options?

Not clear if you are h.s. or college but my answer is the same: not everything you do in life has to be practical or has to lead to a direct career application. Is it critical to take a full sequence of either? Could you do some explorations of a range of courses for a taste of what they offer, seeing if you enjoy them and are challenged by them rather than committing yourself to multiple semesters and a full sequence at this time?

If everyone only took courses related to their work, their lives would be narrowed. Perhaps knowing something about photography will make you a happier biologist, or knowing poetry enriches a policeman, or making music pleases the manager of Home Depot.

Life is bigger than your career. Live it richly!

I'd take C++, but then again I'm majoring in computer science so I may be biased ;)
