I am planning to got o Mauritius for honeymoon. My Indian passport has ECR.

I have heard that the rules have changed and now it does not matter whether the passport has ECR or ECNR while going to Mauritius.

Please can someone confirm this?

Yes, you should get ECNR stamped on your passport before leaving outside India. Recently the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India have been simplified the criteria for ECNR status. Submit your passport along with attested copy of your educational certificates (matriculation or above) and you will get back your passport on the same day.

Good luck

Hi I had finished all pages so got my second passport in January.I read in the passport saying that from now there wont be separate ECNR requirement. That means ECNR is automatically included in the passport to whichever place requires ECNR all u need to do is when u go to buy airline tickets just ask travel agent to get ECNR done.Happy holiday

ECNR, is the current rule: but, if you have time, safer to get it stamped by Passport Office: it is not difficult at all. Just apply for ECNR stamping. Mauritius anyway is not in the list for Ec.
