Some of the more significant elements of a good relationship are:
1) A long list of common interests; things you both enjoy doing TOGETHER as opposed to separate interests and separate groups of friends.
2) A lot of tolerance for each other's differences. As much as you share in common, you're still going to rub one another wrong from time to time. Be mature and deal with it. Separate the small $h!t from the serious stuff.
3) A sense of compromise; so that you can work out your problems with a minimum of emotional trauma. Negotiation.
4) A sense of sympathy and forgiveness. You're both going to screw up on occasion. You need to be able to forgive, forget, and move on with the relationship.

Honesty--from the door. Too many men and women lie....especially guys. If you like to play around...let the person that you are getting involved in know that 'you like to play around', because life is too short and people have been known to fall into that temporary insanity category. If you are honest in the beginning of the relationship--it would make communication flow more freely between the 2 of you. Then there is that word,'communication', as we know many men whether (bi, gay, or straight) have problems communicating their feelings. Also I know that men are territorial when it comes to their mate--but trust is another hot potato. A lot of men accuse their mate or lover of cheating--when in actuality they are the ones cheating (UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!). So you know what makes a relationship works: Honesty, communication and trust...........and the most important one of all RESPECT for each other!

I think it's the thing so called "acceptance"! If you love a person, you must accept everything about that person unconditionally regardless of his/her weaknesses and everything. Acceptance will motivate both of you to understand each other deeper than you ever thought. If the one you love will feel that you have accepted him/her for what he/she is, surely that person will never let you go and love you more instead because only a few in the world you can find that is capable of accepting you all through out. Is there anything more important to you than a person who is willing to take the risks of taking who you are? So, I would say that if both of you accept each other irrespective of negative sides and everything, your relationship will last forever...

It's not a one-way street. Both involved have to give equally. If one does all the giving then they are going to become quite unhappy and it will just get worse from there.

From my own experience i'd have to say live and learn, respect one another, dont do to your partner what u wouldnt' want done to yourself. Be able to talk through any problems rather then argue. And learn to give and take. Like they say what goes around comes around.. so give to them what u want back.
