I am tanning very quickly with now five times working up from 8 mins and increasing two mins everytime since im not burning. My first time doing it and it is very relaxing, im going to do it for a couple months like 3 times a week before I go on my vacation to Florida :D but normally I don't tan often ever in the sun and a first time indoor tanner;.

I haven't had enough experience but since ive been going I have been usually taking a shower before I go and so any oil's or lotion is off and then go get the tan.

Should I be applying a certain type of lotion, any suggestions which works really well if it is worth the money ill get it.

ok now is it true that tanning in a salon looks fake compared to tanning in the sun, so far my friends having been asking if I got some sun the last few days here, out here in cali on the central coast it is like summer right now. so back to the question, is there lotions to wear when you

It all depends on how often you are going. If you are going too often, and for the max time, then it isn't going to look natural because you will get too dark. You will look the most natural if you limit your tanning to a couple times a week, maybe every 3 days or so. Also using lotion does help, it hydrates the skin, and helps you tan faster. The types of lotions the tanning salons sell are the best to use, and if you don't want to spend a lot of money on them, many salons sell small sample sizes so you can find the product that you like. I don't know if it matters much if you shower before you tan, but you definitely should use lotion. When I used to go tanning, I always showered after tanning, but mostly because I don't like the smell of the lotions after tanning.

Yes, you should definitely use lotion before you go. Your tanning salon should have a wide selection of them. I'm partial to Hoss Sauce Super Dark and Brown Envy but that's just me. Both are reasonably priced and work really well. Well-moisturized skin tans better, and there is no need to apply lotion directly afterwards if you apply beforehand because the tanning lotion will still be moisturizing you until you wash it off. As for the tan looking natural, I think it does up until a certain point. I think it's very possible to get too dark, but since you're just beginning, you shouldn't have to worry about this. If you just go 2 months 3X a week, your tan will mostly likely look natural. Also if you use a lotion with a bronzer in it and you're not dark enough for it, you'll end up looking orange, which definitely is not natural-looking. The 2 lotions I mentioned don't have bronzers, but just whatever you do, don't confuse Brown Envy with Brown Envy Dark, because the latter does have a bronzer.

You should always apply tanning lotion before you get in the bed. The best ones to buy are the ones they sale at the salon. They will be able to tell you what would be best for you. Also, you do not have to shower before each time, but it won't hurt. You do need to make sure you are moisturizing daily. Like after you get out of the shower, or before bed. I put lotion on twice a day. Happy Tanning!
