Several thoughts...

Maybe the plug is loose. Try another outlet. Also make sure the cord isn't loose where it conncets to the stereo.

The stereo might have a defective power supply that keeps overheating. If that is the case the only options are getting it repaired, or replacing the stereo.

One of the best ways to trouble shoot it is to unhook everything from it. Then, take the stereo into another room, preferably on the other side of the house. Then just let it play music and see if it still does the same thing. If it does, chances are the stereo has a part that is defective. If it doesn't, try plugging something else into the outlet it was plugged into and see if that has the same problem. If so, you have an electrical problem in the house that could be dangerous.

Something else you might want to try, while you have the stereo in the other room, bring in your remotes from your tv, dvd/vcr combo box, and your satelite box. Start pressing buttons. It is possilbe that pushing the volume up on the TV remote turns off your stereo!

Hope this helps.

It looks like a CRT television. The coils around the tube that magnetically pull the photograph out to a sq. have a fault and this would be a complicated one to discover. that's linked with the Very HT electric circuits. Get an authority in or purchase a clean one.

Wow that is so weird! My aunt had a hair dryer that did that.
Maybe you're hitting a breaker. You could also be turning off a switch by accident. Like at our house we have a light switch that turns off everything in the living room for some reason. I hate that b/c I always forget about it and turn off the wrong switch. So we put tape over it.
