Good question. I think that it has lost it's impact through over use. For instance - when you haven't heard what a person has said you say "sorry?"
We are living in the type of society where it is the norm to be self indulgent - and sorry is just another word.

I have mixed emotions Sweetie. I am sorry for every moan I have caused you. On the other hand I want to cause you more.
Whats a poor boy to do Honey. Your sighs are my siren's call and I am hypnotized from your babbling. Sorry for being so deep Baby but these things I do.

I say sorry way too much. But its more of a thing where someone is mad, they're not mad at me, but I feel the need to apologize. People get annoyed with me for saying sorry to much, lol.

There's a point when sorry is not enough. There has to be action and not just words.
