Try to find a free online course in Java on the Internet. On the homepage of sun you can find free ebooks. Look for the free ebook called "Thinking in Java 2" (just type it in Google). Success!

Well, start by reading through the book the teachers advise you to look into, getting to know java, learn to read documentation, and practice making small programs on your own. Practice makes perfect.

search for exercices and practise all the time
any idea u got try to translate it into java.. take advantage of the object-oriented use
