I went through this last year. I'd wake up and couldn't get back to sleep AT all.

First off go to bed when you are "tired".. and read or watch TV if you can to 'relax' - [nothing creepy]

Take a warm bath or shower too-

You are supposed to get "up" and not just lay there -
and try again in a little while.
If it goes on for days, go see your doctor there are plenty of sleeping medications now that they will let you try.

Well you need to start off my making an effort to. If I'm just laying there I'll listen to some very calming music. For me, I fall alseep quicker when I'm listening to Stan Getz or Billy Holiday on my Ipod.
