to calculate viewing figures, so many people, say 1000 in an area, are given a box, which, which plugs in to their tv sets, this collates data from their televisions, this is monitored over a period of time and results recorded. The viewing figures are then worked out as a percentage, and applied nationally. so say, 100 people of the thousand watched bbc1 at 7.30pm on monday night, thats 10%, so apply nationally and 10% watched, giving a figure of however many people per viewing population, its a vague way to do it, but the only way really......

yes it is possible in DTH and Set Top Connections. those who r having such decoder boxes , one can exactly findout which programme the user has viewd, the time and the duration of his watching the programme. same is possible in world space like radio's, if i'm right.

Hi buddy.U asked a good question but I think it is just impossible becoz now TV has reached even in small villages &in India-a land of villages it is difficult even to count them.
