to date I have kept sheep but now want an easier life. I also have a large shed and mountain rights.
I will be working on growing my own fruit and veg but would like a regular income.

Events. Turn your land into showground for major events, festivals etc. you would only need a couple of events a year and you would make so much money. You would need to contact event agencies and see if they are interested, they do all the work and pay you huge land fees. does you land have road access and is there somewhere you can turn into parking? where are you in the country?

ok buddy . .dont know which country ur from but make sure u research the climatic influences completely. I am from india and my dad is a farmer. He moved from the leather industry to agriculture and lost almost everything. The reason : he did not research what he was getting into.
Make sure you dont make the same mistake. Make sure the crop you will harvest has good market value. You say you have a mountain . . maybe you can go for terrace farming.

One final thing. You said " ...to date I have kept sheep but now want an easier life".
forget it . . farming is hard work.

If there's a some fairly flat stuff to work with, fishing lakes can be popular for both Trout fishing & Coarse fishing (most places usually charge anything from £1 - £15 a day per angler)...... though in the UK I believe it requires alot of consulting & grovelling with the Environment Agency
http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/subjects/fish/
+ may help to work with a popular UK fishing website, such as
http://www.maggotdrowning.com

A farm about a couple of miles away from me has set up a garden centre on their premises, while another one nearby has converted at least one building into a restaurant.

While another one makes & sells ice cream.

There should also be plenty of room for something like a Camping & Caravan park...... or even a Camping & Caravan park with a fishing lake a couple of acres in size.

You could have a go at the tourism industry and have small numbers of guests come and stay and help out around the farm for the benefit of the country experience and being able to access the mountains.

if it's in a nice area how about letting people camp on it? we stay in a farmer's field in dovedale, derbyshire. it's just a field, no amenities, but we can use an outside toilet at the nearby farmhouse. they only charge £3 an adult a night - children just £1 and it's great for just a last minute night or two away. and it always seems to have a good flow of visitors.
another option would be carbooting - rent your field out, a lot of mess, but i bet it creates a good level of revenue.

How about renting the acres out for horses. People with horses are always looking for a field to rent for their horses/ponies! Or if you are really adventurous, open up riding stables, pony treks etc.

Where are you? If there are lots of tourists in your area look at something for them.

What about renting your land for a wind farm.
