Lincoln was VERY unpopular at times. The press called him a baboon.

Sounds familiar!

PS Nixon did NOT hold the record for lowest popularity. I remember reading somewhere that in August 1974 the public was split 50/50 on whether he should resign.

Unless he can do something remarkable in the next year or so Jeffrey, I'm afraid it will be George w. Bush. A lot of Pres. are unpopular because of their administration, but Bush really created his own miseries. To a great degree, the people around him, in my opinion, are actually evil. Cheney, Gonzales and even his own father. But ultimately, he chose them. He comes across as being a , not to bright, spoiled child with tunnel vision. Sadly, at the end of the tunnel are the lives of thousands of American military, hundreds of thousands innocent iraqis, and tragically the Constitution and reputation of your country as a force for good in the world.
What ever you do, don't give up the fight to defend and protect your country's honour. Good Luck

It's really impossible to give you a clear cut winner of that. Since polls are done by different people usually with a bias. For instance some bush polls say like 26 when others say like 35.

Depends on when their approval rating was made.

The lowest approval rating any sitting President ever received is :

Truman - 24%
Carter - 28%

Of course both scored higher later on.

Truman actualy has both the lowest approval rating ever, and the third highest approval rating ever (87%)
