Everything seems to point to Cheney. Is he really that untouchable? One does not presume too much but would Libby ever have done this on his own, or do some people believe Libby is innocent ? The evidence points to someone and I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. We still have 20 months and a few days of this administration left. Things are getting interesting and Republicans can't control Congress anymore.

Beastie, so how do you know this? Being under NOC does place her and her contacts in foreign countries in potential danger, and this is not that the CIA felt when they complained to the Justice Dept.
Did you ever have a security clearance?

Jeeper: I do read the news. This is why I asked this question. How do you know R.A. is telling the truth?
There is more to this story.

The problem is this -- Cheney is obviously responsible for the Plame outing. Armitage was the one that leaked her name to Robert Novak and Bob Woodward, but he did not know that her identity was classified (which it most definitely was). Armitage learned her name through a "contact" at the State Dept. who most likely learned of her connection to ambassador Wilson from a source at the White House. The VP was insane with rage about Wilson's op-ed and decided that the best way to discredit him would be to make it sound like his wife was the one that sent him to Niger to investigate the uranium story (whether or not this is true is in dispute, but either way - his findings were accurate. Iraq definitely DID NOT try to purchase uranium in Niger).
Anyway, while Armitage did leak her name to a couple reporters - he was not the only one doing any leaking. Libby and many others in the administration also leaked her name to reporters -- so to say that Armitage is the only one that did anything wrong is simply absurd. Armitage just happened to leak her name to a reporter with an axe to grind (Novak) who was also stupid enough to print the name of an undercover CIA agent.
The whole situation is really sickening. The true believers at the White House (starting with Cheney) wanted to discredit a fairly minor op-ed piece by making an irrelevant point about why Wilson was sent to investigate the issue in the first place. The consequence of this was the outing of a person who was at one time a spy for our country. That is completely unethical and pathetic -- but since nobody can prove that they actually knew about her classified status nobody can be charged for the real crime.
Libby was charged because he was stupid enough to lie about what he said when he was questioned -- he was charged for lying to a grand jury, and he deserved what he got. Libby is no saint, but there were many others in the administration (including Cheney, Fleischer, and Rove) that were just as guilty as Libby. These guys were just smart enough not to get caught lying to the special prosecutor.

i stumble on it humorous that the persons who stringently carry on with the letter of the regulation with Valerie Plame's "trip" are additionally the comparable people who see no longer something incorrect with sHrillery, stealing 900 FBI documents, to apply against her political competitors. Plame, herself, is an opportunist who's doing what Anita Hill did- feign to be injured and then earnings from it, guffawing all a thank you to the economic corporation. Being a schill to socialists, supplies you loose experience from the liberal media.

Libby didn't out Valerie Plame.
Don't you read the news, Richard Armitridge outed Valerie plame to Robert Novak.
And for some reason, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has decided not to make a case against Armitridge.
We know Armitridge is telling the truth, because Novak told Fitzgerald that he got the information from Armitridge.
And since Novak wrote the article that outed Plame, shouldn't he know where he got the info from ?

The Democrats we have in Congress right now are proving to be a bunch of spineless wimps. I doubt they'll do anything worthy like impeach Cheney or end the BS war. I doubt they'll even stop Bush from attacking Iran.

Apparently her status of "under-cover" based on set criteria by the CIA, doesn't rise to the degree of being a chargable offence if you were to "out" her.
Thats why no one has been charged with that type of crime.
Libby was charged with lying to federal investigators looking into the case, and that is what he was convicted of.
Cheney, Rove and practically everyone else was involved with the smear campaign, but it wasn't illegal nor did they lie about it when asked about it.
