And why answer just for the points?

Surley there's more to life than scoring? (there is to mine)

I can understand the religious nutters trying to spread the word and all that (I don't agree with it but i understand it)

But what's with people just being rude and aggressive?

Why are people just so mean?

It find it rather disstressing

That's something I've been wondering my whole life. Why the hell do people have to be so mean? I think it comes mostly from people having small minds and a big chip on their shoulder. Those are the kinds of folks who have to put others down in order to boost their own ego or self esteem. The best thing to do is to punish them with the disregard they so richly deserve.

Well Silver Bird
There is a dang good reason why people ask and answer just to be rude---- they're rude people !!! You've got to have noticed that such people exist--- right ?? So, what about the Y-A did you feel would be an insulated little warm and fuzzy with all of that held outside by some big ole grizzly ??

And, to let them disstress you is exactly what people like that are after !! They thrive on causing ill will and discontent !!
So, one of the very first lessons to be learned in this place is---to toughen the hell up--- not let the doo daa day worry you-- what ever the STUFF--- full steam ahead !! And, you're gonna enjoy this thing a lot better when you learn to let this junk roll off of you--- pick up on the really good stuff you run into--- enjoy the truly brilliant ones that you meet here and laugh at all the whacked out sideshows and GO ON THRU THE FOG !!!! The rude ones will eventually hack one another to death with their slices and dices anyway !!!

Many of the questions asked show that the asker has limited knowledge and that the question is silly, so some people punish that characteristic. Sometimes the asker is reflecting a position on the subject that is either unreasonable or not held by a majority of respondents, that type of question seems to be "asking for trouble". There are a lot of people who do give one word irrelevant answers, probably just for points. The time taken to answer a question and not get the best answer award must be quick and simple because they have to answer a lot of them like that.
I often do not waste the time to give a detailed answer because a reasonable question has already been saturated with undeserved commentry.
I guess we are seeing a cross section of human behaviour in this activity just in the same way as we see it in others.
Ignore the rude, learn from the intelligent answers, try to identify the misinformed and learn to laugh with the person who has a different slant on something. Best wishes.

Being mean is a learned trait--so some people are doing the only thing they know.
Some just need attention, And even bad attention, is better than none at all. even if that attention comes in one or two word doses.
Don't be disstressed by the ones who are rude or mean, feel sorry for them. It's what they grew up with, and that's really sad.
Spread a little kindness to them anyway...They need it the most.

It is the safest (for them) way to steam off.

In a way, this forum functions as a psychotherapeutic method. If people angry, distressed, molested cannot find a way to express their dark side, it would be dangerous not only for themselves but for the society as well.

In this forum they express themselves to some extend. Maybe this, helps them keep a balance. For their own good and ours.
So, see the whole matter detached, if not with sympathy, as if you are looking at a a person deeply woonded or just a naughty child. Have in mind that their attitude is not towards you. There is nothing personal with you. They do not know you and you will never come in contact with them. So, let them express themselves, they do no harm, ignore their comments and go further.

that's no longer an atheist ingredient, that's an internet ingredient. whilst persons are waiting to place up anonymously, they'll many times say issues that they had in no way say in genuine existence. people say recommend issues because of the fact it enables them to get an effortless laugh with none genuine effects. in case you prefer to speak approximately which area does it extra... nicely, i do no longer understand the answer to that, yet all i understand is that i'm an atheist and that i've got won countless nasty e-mails from Christians over my time at this website, and numerous of my atheist friends have besides, so it works the two techniques.

oh, I really wish I knew! it's very annoying and takes all the fun (not to mention helpulness) away from this cute site. I guess people just do it because 1) they are teenagers who think it's cool 2) they are just sad and want to take it out on someone else 3) because they can do so annonimously.... there must be other reasons, but I undrstand it's annoying. just ignore the rude ones, who cares about them??? there are some great people here to, focus on them

Does it really matter? You don't know these people, they don't walk in your shoes. Some people do answer just for the points, that's just the way it is. As for peeps being rude and aggressive they do it to feel good about themselves, well that's my opinion anyway

i know. i read questions that want or need a genuine answer a and then you read down to see how other people have answered and some are so pointless and obviously just wanting the points. People should think less of winning and gaining points but think about gaining personal satisfaction from giving genuine and helpful answers.

People have crap jobs and crappy little lives and they come on here to take out some of their anger at being so dissatisfied with their lot on poor innocent people like yourself. Don't let it distress you, this place is just a sounding board for their frustrations. Just think yourself lucky that you are relatively happy with your life and don't feel the need to vent your anger at the people on here.;)
