I agree with you totally. I am not being selfish and neither are you. These Moslims are in a Christian country called Great Britain and it is about time that if they wish to be considered British they behave like the British. If being a Moslim is more important to them then they should go back to where ever they came from. They are in our country. Muslims are only in our country take our money, use our state services that they did not have in their home countries. Our country and culture says you follow the rules. If their rules do not allow it then they should not be in this country. It is selfish of them to come over here and try to impose their Islamic culture on our decent British culture. Go home if you don't like it and home is so obviously not here.

This is an example of misplaced blame. Muslim leader's have a problem with the banning of veils as it infringes on their religious beliefs. I can understand that and am sensitive to that fact but the blame here lies with the Muslim extremists who have exploited this religious tradition in order to conceal who is behind that veil. The Muslim leader's should be telling their people that because the religious extremists have corrupted their religious practices it is now necessary to change their traditions in order to build trust among other religions. It is time the Muslim leaders stand up for their own religion and denounce those who exploit it. The Muslim religion is being hijacked from the inside out not the other way around.

I think they do not have a real problem with it- but they do seem to get off on exploiting our hypocrasies!

Unfortunately we live in times where identity is seemingly neccessary. Oddly we don't hear about Muslim students terrorizing schools or being pedophillic stalkers hanging out near playgrounds. So why all of the veil crap in schools?

It makes them seem even more suspicious which is yet another reason to distrust them. It is a subtle racism that slowly leads to hatred.

The Muslim leaders really shouldn't ***** too much about it, we have outlawed prayer and the 10 commandments and a bunch of other stuff that has nothing to do with religious bigotry. It more about another lost freedom.

Its my opinion that religion should be kept out of public schools. Kids have way to much on thier minds as it is.

They have a problem with it because they are religious lunatics.

A good follow-up question would be - "The banning of school sponsored Christian prayer: Why do Christian leaders have a problem with this?"

Religious people don't need to have a good reason behind what they believe, because they don't have to pay attention to pesky facts... they accept things based on faith. Many people of the Muslim faith believe that women need to be hidden from view, and they can't understand why anyone would feel that that is wrong.

Muslims use veils as a tradition. Thus, Muslim leaders have a problem with the banning of veils in schools.

I think they despise the fact they are being forced to do as the Romans do.
How many of us could comfortably get away with wearing a giant crucifix daily in the Muslim world?
We may not be assalted physically- but certainly it would rub people up the wrong way.
Why allow these peasant Muslims with no proper understanding of their religion, let alone never been on a Hajj pilgrimmage, educated in some mind-numbing, Saudi funded madrassa, and unable to comprehend the al-Q'uran in its' original intent in its medieval Arabic (not to mention commonplace functional illiteracy in their native tongue) exempt from being considerate?
Surely the guest should resepect the host?

Key point- MUSLIM WOMEN IN THE LARGEST MUSLIM COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD- INDONESIA (1) AND INDIA (2)- HATE WEARING JILBAB/HIJJAB.
MOST GIRLS DON'T- THEY HATE IT- IT's UNFASHIONABLE.
ONLY PEASANT MIDDLE-EASTERNS DO.

Let's not legitimaise a backward, inappopriate CULTURAL action.
If the majority of Muslim women don't wear jilbab- why allow a close-minded minority.

I don't know... I hate to have the state dictating religious practices or banning practices. Islamic women wear veils to conform to their religious beliefs. I think the state should respect that. I also think the state should not sanction Christian students from using school property for prayer.

In short, I want the state out of the religion business entirely.

I like the story of the Florida woman who refused to take off her veil for her license photo. How do we know who is under there?

Everyone should have a problem with it. Today its veils, tomorrow a crucifix around your neck and then the yarmulke.

Haven't you noticed that they have a problem with everything?????
Everyday we see more demands to change the British way of life. They feel brave here because in their 'home' countries they don't have the luxury of freedom of speech - and people bowing to them like Tony Blair.
Did you know that Tony Blair carries a copy of the Koran around with him?
Nice to see that our leader doesn't do the same with the other faith holy books.
