I think Matty Alou might have done it if I remember correctly. Anybody know the record for plate appearances in a season..This would incluse walks, errors, HBP, etc. Anybody got the skinny on this?

Indeed it has been done, by 3 players.

The AL and MLB Record is held by Willie Wilson, who went to the plate 705 times in 1980 for the KC Royals.

The NL Record is held by Juan Samuel, who got 701 At-bats for the Phillies in 1984

The third player to do it was Ichiro Suzuki, in his record season of 2004 (where he set the single-season hits record with 262) he went to the plate 704 times.

Yes - the record for plate appearances is 773, by Lenny Dykstra in 1993. Practically every year somebody hits 700 - last year, at least 5 people in each league had over 700 PA.

For at-bats, the record is 705, by Willie Wilson in 1980. Ichiro (in '04) and Juan Samuel (1984) also broke 700 AB.

In the 1980 season Willie Wilson of the Kansas City Royals had 705 AB's. He also became the first (and only) switch-hitter in the American League to record 100 or more hits from both sides of the plate.
The first player from both sides of the plate was National Leaguer Gerry Templeton of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1979. (Less than 700 AB's.)
