I think Buckbeak won't be of some great use any more. He showed himself during the third book "Prisoner of Askaban" by saving Sirius Black. But it is a bit strange why J.K.Rowling keeps him in the plot all this time. That brings me to other theory that he will be of some, maybe just a small, importance in the seventh book. Maybe he will just save someone else again. :) I think that best thing is to wait until the seventh book comes out and find out. :)

Maybe
In the half blood prince, he slashes at Snape, wounding him....so he's useful.
And he was of great use in Sirius' escape from Hogwarts in book 3
So, maybe he has a important part in book 7

Yes, I think so. I'm HOPING he wounded the half-blood prince. I do think he'll prove useful in some small way in book 7.

Probably, he will. In the sixth book, he chased the half blood prince away.
