I left Oahu 3 years ago...moved to Michigan. Today I feel sad not being in Makakilo, my home for 20 years....although I am much happier because everything is so cheap here in Michigan. I no longer have to beat the traffic jam at 5 am, I can easily pay my rent of $500 a month, and have lots of money left over to travel. I am thinking of buying a house now, four bedrooms with a pool for 70K...mortgage would be around $400 a month. I usually visit Oahu every year...can't wait to go back again this year.
