Yes, it takes about 10-15 min (not including prep time). Yes, you arrive about 15 min before the surgery and walk out 10 min after it is done. Seriously, I was there just over half and hour.

I don’t know much about insurance. I am told most every insurance plan will cover it if you have a family plan. If you are single, they can be kind of jerky about it, but that is just the insurance company imposing its own set of rules. There is no rule that says they won’t.

I was working as a security guard at the time. I was back to work the next evening. I had to walk up and down stairs.

I paid cash for the whole thing, but that was 20 years ago.

Ask the “old timer” anything you like.

A friend of mine is a school teacher. He drove to the doctor's day surgery one Friday afternoon and had a vasectomy operation.

The doctor gave him a shot of morphine followed by a local anaesthetic and the whole process took 20 mins including paying the bill. Foolishly he drove himself home... (even they recommend you don't do that) ... a one hour trip.

Unfortunately when he got home he fainted at the front stairs and his wife had to drive him all the way back to the doctors to get his forehead stitched up.

He went to school on the Monday and this junior high kid, seeing the bandage on the forehead of his teacher asked "what happened to you sir"?

"I had a vasectomy, kid." came the reply.

It's extremely simple but they say you will be sore for a week. You also have to ejaculate several times to get rid of the remaining sperm that are in your system. You should get a sperm count after the surgery (maybe a month later) and make sure you are shooting blanks. Insurance should cover a portion of it. I want to get one as soon as I graduate. The cost should be steep though. Good luck.

It is easy, I'm pretty sure it's outpatient, and I don't think insurance will cover it cuz it's not a necessity.

I hear it's a very short process and I don't see why insurance won't pay for it. Plus it is less lengthly and less dangerous for a man to get a vasectomy then a woman to get her tubes tied.

Easy if you're healthy. You go home the same day. Depends on your insurance. I want to say yes for most, if not they're not TOO pricey; after all, it already cost you your nuts.

My BF got one, I took him there he waited 15 minutes walked in 30 minutes later he was wheeled out and I took him home where he sat on a bag of peas all night and the next day he was playing b-ball with his friends! $10.00 co-pay and that's that:o)
