For my last trip, I used Expedia.Com and got a pretty good rate. Yahoo travel also had some good choices, but anything along Orchard Rd was expensive. The room that they booked us into was too small to begin with, but I made a deal with the hotel for an upgrade, using my existing reservation (this was the Gallery Hotel, which is not on Orchard Rd.).
Also, in London, I used to use Trailfinders. I bet they are worth looking at (see link below). For Madras travel agents, see Chennai Airport link below.
