Some people I've met don't seem to care about the number of people. They don't seem to think that population is a problem. What do you think?

If the world actually controlled the number of people and took recourse management seriously then what would start world war 3. This way of doing things is much more fun.

I do think that our population is a problem, but there has to be a way for people to self control how they add to the population b/c I also don't think that China's 1 child policy is fair either. The government shouldn't decide how many children we have. Maybe people should look into adoption of some of the children already out there instead of having biological children if they feel that could be right for them. I don't know what the right answer is, but I do think we need to do something.

The way I see it is "There is always room for more!" China has finally realized that they cannot reproduce themselves because they have had the "1 child rule" in place in their country for so many years. Killing all of the baby girls because they would not be able to help their parents bring in an income. Now they have all of these men with no one to marry. What will become of them? Maybe we can ship some Liberals over there and get them married off to the Chinese men. That would be a "Big Help" to both China and the United States. Kinda of like "killing 2 birds with 1 stone"! What a great solution to their problem if I should say so myself. But then again, the Libs don't like having babies. That's how Abortion was started in this country in the first place.

Only the poor countries are multiplying out of control. Only the US is increasing in population in teh developed world. Our population gain is mostly due to immigration. If we are serious of world population control, we should stop exporting food and stop immigration. A lot of countries will learn the hardway of controlling their on population. I doubt thats going to happen. A lot of the huge population growth are in oil producing countries. I think we encourage population growth so those countries would be dependent on our food. THe oil shortage in the 70's was partly due to the anger of Iran over huge increases in food prices. China had it right. I think they went way to far, but the best way to take charge of your own economy is to keep the population managable so you wouldn't be dependent on foreign powers. If the population increases, there is less resources per person and therefor a lower standard of living. Plus the environmental issue.

Absolutely! The planet cannot sustain unlimited population growth. Overpopulation stretches the resources, damages the planet, and lessens the quality of life for everyone.

Yes! The world is overpopulated and most of the people who have over 3 children are near the poverty level. Mass sterilization for all! (Unless they can pass an IQ test or something.) ;)

We are sitting, fat, fed, warm and happy in our own enclosed biosphere, just like yeast in a carboy. What would yeast do?

I fear that humankind, like yeast, will eat, breed and excrete its way into extinction, drowning in a boiling vat of our own end products.

I think population control should start with you. Why don't you be the first one to sacrifice your self for good of the rest of us.
