Check out the crochet section at http://www.craftster.org for some great ideas. Look up amigurumi. It is making small dolls, stuffed animals by crocheting, mostly by using only the single crochet stitch. You could also make things out of regular craft felt. It is cheap and comes in many colors. Search ebay for japanese felt craft books for inspiration or many people on craftster make neat things from felt.

Sewing? Aprons are the easiest ! And you can never have to many !! Great for gifts and all !!! I never had any experience and I'm darn proud how they turned out ! You can do it too !
